Smart-Kill™ Notification Tips

Why It's Important to Empty Traps Promptly

The trap is not able to capture another rodent, even if one enters the trap, until the dead rodent has been disposed of. In addition, the indicator light on the top of the trap will blink until the trap is reset, which contributes to battery drain. If a rodent is caught but remains in the trap unchecked, the batteries may only last 2-4 weeks due to the indicator light blinking constantly.

What to do After Catching a Rodent

M1: SMART-KILL™ ELECTRONIC MOUSE TRAP

  1. Press the power button to turn the unit OFF. Then remove the batteries.
  2. Separate the kill chamber from the trap by sliding the two components apart.
  3. Open the kill chamber lid and properly discard rodent into a trash receptacle.
  4. Clean the kill chamber using a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush.
  5. Thoroughly dry the interior and exterior of the kill chamber prior to trap reassembly.
  6. Once dry, reassemble the trap, insert batteries and press the power button to turn the unit back on.
  7. The trap will automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi. Opening and closing the kill chamber door will re-arm the mouse trap if it has not been powered OFF.

M2: SMART-KILL™ ELECTRONIC RAT TRAP

  1. Press the power button to turn the unit OFF. Then remove the batteries.
  2. Open the kill chamber lid and properly discard rodent into a trash receptacle.
  3. Clean the kill chamber using a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush.
  4. Thoroughly dry the interior and exterior of the kill chamber prior to trap reassembly.
  5. Once dry, insert batteries and press the power button to turn the unit back on.
  6. The trap will automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi. Opening and closing the kill chamber door will re-arm the rat trap if it has not been powered OFF.

How to Replace Your Batteries

Note: When replacing, use a set of new, fully charged batteries to ensure the trap works properly.

  1. Press the power button to turn the trap OFF.
  2. Slide open the battery component on top of the trap. Remove old batteries and dispose of them properly.
  3. Insert new batteries, taking care to make sure that positive and negative ends are facing the correct way. For the Smart-Kill™ Electronic Mouse Trap, use 4 “AA” batteries. For the Smart-Kill™ Electronic Rat Trap, use 4 “C” batteries.
  4. Place the lid back over the battery compartment.
  5. Press the power button to turn the trap back on. The trap will automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU'VE LOST WI-FI CONNECTION

There are three possible causes for a lost connection:

  1. If the batteries die, your connection will be lost. Use a battery tester to check their strength or replace them with new batteries to be safe.
  2. If the trap is turned off, this will also cause a lost connection. If you aren’t able to tell if the trap is turned on, simply depress the On/Off button until the green V flashes three times to indicate that the trap is on.
  3. If the Wi-Fi is off or the signal is too far away from your trap, it will not successfully connect. Check that your Wi-Fi is on and working properly. Use a device that has already connected to the Wi-Fi network such as a mobile device or tablet and check the signal strength where the trap is placed.
